Sam Stafford – Varsity Head Coach 

Sam enters his first season as Varsity Head Coach.  This is his fifth season with the girls volleyball program overall.  Sam has been the varsity assistant at Corona del Mar for past four seasons. Prior to joining the Sea Kings girls’ program, Coach Stafford spent six seasons coaching in the Newport Harbor girls’ volleyball program. He has also spent the last ten seasons coaching the boys’ volleyball program at Corona del Mar. In his coaching career, he has had the chance to be a part of numerous CIF, State, and National Championship teams and has worked with a number of very talented coaches. Sam helped the boys claim the 2018 National Championship and Division 1 CIFSS title this past spring. In addition to his coaching duties, Sam also serves as a Physical Education teacher at CdMHS. Sam is excited to serve as a teacher and coach for his alma mater (2007), and continue to grow the great volleyball tradition at Corona del Mar. Sam is excited to coach at his alma mater (2007 grad) and continue the great volleyball tradition here.

Bailey Kray – Varsity Assistant Coach

Bailey returns for her fifth season with CDM girls volleyball. In 2015, she was the head coach of our frosh/soph team and went undefeated in league and took second place in the Newport Harbor tournament.   In 2016 her frosh/soph team took second in league. Bailey was born and raised in Corona del Mar and graduated from Mater Dei High School in 2011. Bailey played club volleyball from age 13-15 at Orange County Volleyball Club and from age 16-18 at TCA. She was the starting setter and team captain all 6 years of club. After graduating high school, Bailey attended Willamette University in Salem, Oregon from 2011-2015, where she played volleyball all four years. Bailey currently coaches teams at United Volleyball Club and has assisted at Newport Lightening Volleyball Club, Sage High School, Fountain Valley High School, and Bear Coast Beach Volleyball Club.

Sean Fallowfield – Varsity Assistant Coach 

Sean joins the CDM girls volleyball coaching staff this year.

Junior Varsity Coach  – Brian Diniz

Brian returns to CDM for his third coaching year with the sea kings. Brian was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; he later moved to Lake Forest where he currently resides. In 2014, he graduated from Irvine High School. Brian played club volleyball for 6 years with OCVC where he battled with many winning teams. Brian continued his volleyball career at Orange Coast College as an Opposite hitter from 2014-2017. While at OCC, his team won the State Championship in 2017. Brian is now attending CSUF studying graphic design. He previously coached club volleyball at UVC for boys and girls programs. He currently coaches beach volleyball for NSI, and this fall he will begin coaching boys volleyball at Balboa Bay Volleyball Club.

Frosh-Soph Head Coach Kelly Burgess

Kelly has coached volleyball for 4 years and this is her first year as head coach of Frosh-Soph. She grew up in North Tustin where she attended Foothill High School (Go Knights!). Kelly played volleyball all four years at Foothill, and also played club volleyball for OCVBC. Kelly attended Loyola Marymount University as an undergrad and then received her Masters of Teaching from USC. She has been teaching for 10 years, and currently teaches in the math department at CdM. Kelly is a loyal supporter of the CdM athletic community and you can find her at most games cheering on her students. She is proud to be a Sea King!
